Our technical and legal requirements, combined with our case-acquisition and management processes, ensure HIPAA compliance.
We’ve gone so far as to develop our own cloud-based platform, medvid.io, to ensure compliance of our streamed video content. Medvid.io utilizes a variety of encryption, user-level authority, logging- and reporting-functionality to establish and maintain HIPAA-level security, and the ability to support all, relevant HIPAA compliance requirements.
Patients participate with informed consent. Each of our case contributors has a careful conversation with patients and/or caregivers about their rights and options if they consent to be filmed.
Among their protected rights, filmed patients have the right to withdraw consent at any time, and we will remove their video from ReelDx immediately. We also ensure that no protected health information is associated with a video case, such as names, medical record numbers, etc.
It’s worth noting that we have never had a patient or caregiver withdraw consent, and close to 100% of patients who are asked, consent to be filmed. We have consistently found that patients and their families have a strong and sustained desire to play a role in improving medical education.

ReelDx has an editorial board entrusted with evidence-based review of our content. This board comprises clinicians with many years of practice both as providers and educators. Many are nationally known for their achievements in their field, and all continue their commitment to leading-edge improvements to health care education.
When care shown in our video cases is not consistent with the standards of care or current evidence reviews, our board does not alter any details about the approach used in that encounter/actual outcomes – because we want to present the real case for learning. Instead, they highlight the questions or issues raised by the case in editorial comments, to guide learner’s critical thinking about the case.
It is our belief that this approach provides the highest-impact educational experience: A balance of what happened, what (in some cases) could have been done differently, and most importantly: Why.
We understand! Our videos are a very new tool in health care education, without precedent for incorporating in curriculum, test prep, etc. The exciting news is that we now have more than 40 leading institutions using our cases in the classroom, with tremendous success. They include nursing schools, medical schools, physician assistant programs, EMS training, and more.

In addition, ReelDx will soon offer case information (content fields) as separate, streamed objects that can be customized within most learning management systems. To use your code correctly, make sure you are using a desktop or laptop computer. Then:
1) Start at our sign-up page:
2) Complete the fields, and enter your code in the Discount Code field on the 2nd page of our sign-up form.
3) Click the “Apply” button, and the total amount will refresh to reflect your discount.
If your discount code brings your cost to $0: You will still need to enter a valid credit card #, as a requirement of our e-commerce application; but the amount charged to your card will be $zero.
Yes, but you have options.
The default setting for all ReelDx accounts is to auto-renew your subscription once a year. However, we will trigger an auto-generated e-mail to you before that happens, so that you have the option to cancel your account and not be charged for another year of access to our growing collection of real patient video cases.
ReelDx does not store any credit card information in our system. All of our credit card data is handled by Stripe, our e-commerce app. Their security policy is listed here: https://stripe.com/help/security
